The Union of Zarpot Island (UZAP):

In 1803, England claimed The Union of Zarpot Island (UZAP). Not too long after England gained control, wars and protests broke out. The most notable war was the Never-ending War, which lasted from 1803-1810. During this seven year war, England managed to conquer every city except Azaria (the capital). In Azaria, civilians managed to fight off the British army for weeks and managed to push them back to outer parts of the island. In 1824, UZAP forced England to sign the Treaty of Pacem (Latin for peace), which finally ended the twenty-one year war for independence. The treaty specifically banned England from making any future attacks, and required them to pay for the damages made during the war. It was not until the year of 1825 that the treaty took effect and UZAP finally separated from England. Later that year, the people of UZAP came together in the capital and agreed to create a new government, with a list of laws for everyone to follow.

Theory of State: The Union of Zarpot Island was created under the Social Contract theory. The citizens agreed to create a new government for the preservation, and protection of the people. They agreed to live within the rules of an established government as long as that government provided protection such as life, liberty, and property.

National Anthem: "Zarponians Unite!"

National Colors: Red, Blue, and Green

geography.jpg
Location: The Union of Zarpot Island is located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, Southeast of Italy and Southwest of Greece.

Longitude:17°52'54.37"E
Latitude: 36°20'4.23"N

Size: The UZAP is a little bigger than the state of Oregon, approx. 99830 sq. miles.

Terrain: The island is in a subtropical region with two volcanoes in the north east region, There is a large bay and a small cove in the Southeast region. In the middle of the island there is a large rainforest and a spring fed lake. Two rivers flow from this lake into the ocean, this gives the water its wonderful clearness. In the Southwest region there is the main beach for tourists, there are also some black sand beaches near the volcanos. In the Northwest region there is a large military and naval base, it is quite impressive. On the north coast of the island is the Great Geinger Reef which is home to a wide variety of marine life, and coral reefs.

*Bottled water is a huge part of the island's economy. Underground, there is a wide abundance of natural springs. The water is then filtered and bottled, ready to sell in most of Europe and Some Parts of America.

Arable Land: less than 15% (This is just unreasonable we need to discuss this) <-- we have a rainforest so there has to be some rain, and therefore making some arable land for growing some crops and etc?

Environmental Issues:
1. With the fishing industry becoming popular in UZAP, therefore we are having to protect the Great Geingner Reef. This is so that we can prevent the marine life from becoming extinct.
2. Due to the two active volcanoes, the island experiences volcanic eruptions which causes natural disasters in the surrounding area, and the times of the eruptions are unpredictable, therefore the people cannot become prepare for them.

Language(s): English (British), Italian

Major National Holidays:
Independence Day - November 17
Veteran's Day - April 9
Presidents' Day - February 4
Food: With the country of UZAP being located next to Italy there is a strong influence of Italian like foods in the area. One of the Regular dishes is Fettuccine Alfredo classically served with Brown Shrimp from the Mediterranean Sea. However, we are still influenced by our original ruler of Britain and the Zarponians really do love a good old fashioned tea time.

Social Norms:
1. If you are new to the Zarponian culture then you will notice that when the word "President" is said then the Zarponians will turn their head slightly to the left in honor of the First General who fought for our independence.
2. A common way of greeting a new person is to tap each others right foot together. This came about because of some of the soldiers that had lost their arms in the name of battle could not shake each others hands so they just decided to start tapping their right foot together.

Taboo:
1. It is frowned upon if you are to look into a person of great heritage in the Union of Zarpot Island and then rub or scratch your face.
2. There is a very valuable Ruby found on Zarpot Island. It was believed to have been brought over by King George III during his winter vacation trip to Zarpot Island in the 1790's. There is an unwritten law about how to view the Ruby. There are no Camera's and Cellphones aloud inside the same room as the Ruby just in case anyone wanted to take a picture. Even if on one occasion someone slipped a cellphone through then there are scramblers that do not allow you to take pictures.

Dress: The Zarponians are usually dressed very casual:
